CRIME: Why we shot two wedding guests - Policemen on illegal duty

There was pandemonium in Anara, in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State on Sunday as two policemen allegedly shot two persons during a traditional wedding.  

 According to a report by Punch, guests were made to abandon the ceremony and run for dear lives as two policemen, whose identities had yet to be ascertained were said to have escorted two prominent persons to the event.  
 The trigger-happy policemen were whisked away by members of the bride’s family who prevented a mob from attacking them. The policemen, who were said to be at large, did not get the approval of the state Commissioner of Police to be at the occasion.  
A witness, who identified himself only as Ugo, said the cops had first shot into the air before

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly defiling an eight- year-old girl in Kurikyo area of the Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The suspect identified as Daniel Tahan- Gafera was said to have also attempted to strangle the minor after raping her.

CRIME: Thief caught on CCTV in Ikeja Village stealing phones



A phone thief who was captured in a viral CCTV footage currently circulating on the internet has disclosed that he was propelled to steal an iPhone 8S in a retail outlet in Ikeja because of the need to pay his school fees.
 
The suspect, Timilehin Olaniyi, who was captured in a trending CCTV footage disclosed that he was desperate to pay his school tuition fee of N80,000, hence he stole the iPhone 8S.
 
Olaniyi, a 200 level student of DS Adegbenro ICT College, Ogun State noted that he was in Computer Village, Ikeja on 16th February, 2018 in the morning to dispose off an iPhone 5s given to him by his course mate to enable him raise money for his school fees.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has sealed up HeathLink Hospital and Maternity Complex at Green gate Estate Nkwele Ezunaka in Obosi, Anambra State.
The hospital belong to a self acclaimed Doctor Ossi Odili who reportedly issues certificate to a cartel suspected to be involved in kidnapping and sale of babies across the country.

Eagle police arrested a 38-year-old Nigerian man, Babajide Ayowole Ogunnubi, on felony racketeering and theft charges for his part in a classified ad scam involving a local newspaper and a Walmart in Beaumont, Texas.
Ogunnubi allegedly convinced Linda Lazard Franks, 56, of Beaumont, to sign for money orders and other financial transactions and then give the money to him.
Franks told Eagle police that Ogunnubi told her that he had lots of friends in the Houston and Beaumont areas who would send money to him.

A five-year-old boy, Ekene, set ablaze along with his younger brother, Ebuka, passed away yesterday night in Awka, Anambra State capital. Ebuka is currently fighting for life at the hospital.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today re-arraigned a former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Administrative Secretary in Kwara State, Christian Nwosu on charges of accepting gratification.  

Nwosu was charged alongside Tijani Bashir, as well as former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke who is still at large and one Yisa Adedoyin, who was earlier convicted, after pleading guilty.  Nwosu had earlier pleaded guilty to receiving N30 million bribe to rig the 2015 general election results.

EFCC had accused the defendants of conspiring to directly take possession of N264,880.000 which they reasonably ought to have known forms part of an unlawful act,

CRIME: 22 Nigerian youths involved in Internet fraud arrested by Ghanaian Police




Ghanaian police authorities have arrested 22 Nigerians for allegedly engaging in cyber-crime, known in local parlance as “Yahoo Yahoo”.
According to Citi News, the police also arrested a Ghanaian taxi driver believed to be an accomplice. They were nabbed at their hideout at Oyarifa in Accra.
