A yet-to-be identified election observer has reportedly been shot dead by a police officer in Umuida community, Enugu Ezike, Igbo-Eze north local government area of Enugu state. The Cable reports that the observer was shot in the head by the police officer stationed close to the residence of Ayogu Eze, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The man accused of killing his tenant in a brutal attack at the Ashanti Regional community of Gromesa in the newly created Adansi-Akrofuom District, has been arrested at his hideout in Accra.
Abraham Mantey was alleged to have cut the throat of his father's tenant, Eric Tetteh, leading to victim's untimely death; throwing the Gromesa community into a state of shock last Sunday.
The deceased, Eric Tetteh, a farmer, had his throat slit in the presence of his wife, Evelyn Dansowaa, around 7:00 pm for refusing to vacate his room.

Two men arrested with 14 sacks containing fake ballot papers in Kano

The Kano Police Command says it has arrested two suspects in possession of 14 bags of fake ballot papers in Kano state.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the suspects were arrested with the fake ballot papers around Metro Police Area Command on Wednesday night, February 13th.

On Saturday, February 16, 2019, you will, once again, be called upon to choose the leaders who will pilot the affairs of our great nation for the next four years. This is a constitutional right which should be freely exercised by all eligible voters.
2. I wish therefore to start by assuring all Nigerians that this Government will do its very best to ensure that the 2019 elections take place in a secure and peaceful atmosphere.
3. It was indeed such free, fair and peaceful elections that made it possible for our Government to emerge, despite the fact that we were contesting against a long-standing incumbent party.
