[PHOTOS] QUINTESSENTIAL AND PHILANTROPHY: THE HALLMARK OF EZE VICTOR OGBONNA

Writing about a complex character like HRH Eze Victor Okechukwu Ogbonna could turn out to be a herculean task. Sometimes you think you know and, at some other times, you are completely flabbergasted seeing another side of an otherwise gentle, amusive, and intelligent octopus that he is. Much more important is the fact that put into consideration that, here is a man whose life transcends every sphere of human endeavor from a humble beginning to becoming a public icon of all seasons, and rising from that pedestal to a juggernaut of no mean records in the very core areas of philanthropy, youth empowerment, social reform and poverty eradication.

He attended and completed his primary education at Okigwe Urban Primary School, Secondary Education at Ezinachi Community Secondary School and proceedes to have his  University education at Abia State University and thereafter, Nigerian Law School, FCT Abuja and subsequently.

He was later called to the Nigerian Bar and then enrolled as a Solicitor and Advocate of Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Thereafter, Eze commenced his private legal practice in his own Law Firm, Victor Ogbonna and Associates which is also known as Thank God Chambers.

As a young man, his ambition was limited to wearing wig and gown to fight for all those whose rights have become privileges, to whom freedom is subjected to endless struggle, survival is at the mercy of dictators, security of lives and properties cannot be protected even on point of law, whose constitutional rights cannot be guaranteed and to whom life has been constant struggle. But God Almighty, endowed him with a Crown and Robe, instead, with which to champion the cause for which he hopes to live for and see realized.

Now that he  is wearing the royal regalia with the unspeakable challenges that follow, however, Eze Ogbonna said “the strongest things that illuminate every page of my life as a monarch, include and without any limitation, the strife to expand the territories of literacy, equality, freedom, wealth, security, justice, equity and good conscience.”

The ebullient and prudent King also told us that he dedicate his throne to his late father, HRH Eze M.C. Ogbonna I, President Nelson Mandela, Bob Marley, Martin Luther King Jr, President Barack Obama and all those who have watered the soil of the earth with their tears and blood so that "freedom" shall become right to all not privilege to some.

Suffice it to say that, perhaps, that is why the hopes of his community and a great percentage of the citizenry are concentrated in his palace; "The Freedom Palace", indeed it is the courage and resilience of his father that gave birth to and defined his community, Ihitte Amaise Ezinachi Autonomous Community, powered by the selfless monarch.

In his words, “our community was hitherto, littered with dashed dreams and shattered hopes, my father gazed that we must cross the red sea of discrimination, incarceration, intimidation, isolation, marginalization, degradation etc and the walls of jealousy, hatred, envy, inequality and destruction will be pulled down by the power of love.

Therefore, with all due respect I urge mankind across the globe to bridge the chasm that divide us as a people irrespective of race, gender, status etc. I love to see churches and mosques built side by side and people of different faith associate together in the true spirit of their faiths respectively anchored on love, peace, unity and progress and share knowledge of whatever they believe in without violence of any sort.

I shall never be satisfied until "we the people" across the globe severally and/or collectively plant that divine tree of love by the side of a river which shall never lack water; essential for its growth and well being.”
