Crime: EFCC arrests clergymen for N70m fraud


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, may soon arraign one Ogunrinde Olushola Kayode and his co-travellers before a court of competent jurisdiction for allegedly defrauding one Ikechukwu Onita of over N70 million naira.

The suspect and his co-travellers allegedly approached Onita, under the guise of being men of God, soothsayers and narrated to him, his life challenges and predicaments, which coincidentally corresponded to the situation and circumstances of his life at that time.

Crime: Two Brazilians arrested at Lagos airport with N310m worth of cocaine


Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested two Brazilians, Dias Dos Santos Marcia Cristina, 36 and Lima Pereira Erick Diego, 20, over the illegal importation of canned, whitish substance which later tested positive for cocaine. 
The female suspect, Dias Dos Santos Marcia Cristina was found with 9.400kg of cocaine in her bag while Lima Pereira Erick Diego was  found with 14.465kg of cocaine in his bag. According to NDLEA the seized illegal substance has an estimated street value of about N310 million.

The Christian Association of Nigeria in South Africa has condemned Pastor Tim Omotoso who is being accused of sexually exploiting at least 30 girls.

The association's Archbishop Benson Uwha said they are aware that not all Nigerian men necessarily have good intentions, but pointed out that some South African pastors are also accused of exploiting their congregants.

A fatal accident that occured over the weekend on the Ikot-Ekpene-Aba Expressway in Aba, Abia state, led to the death of many and several others injured. The accident, which involved a truck, a couple of tricylces, a commercial bus and a private owned car, was reportedly caused by the truck.

According to witnesses, the truck, heavily loaded with chippings, was speeding as it descended the Ogbor Hill Bridge, when it lost control and crashed into several vehicles and pedestrians. Three female suicide bombers were on Monday, April 24, intercepted in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

At least 20 pupils have died in after a minibus they were travelling in crashed into a lorry outside Bronkhortspruit in Gauteng, South Africa on Friday afternoon. The taxi burst into flames, and most of the children were trapped inside.

News: Babypulled out alive from grave three days after his mum buried him


A baby boy was miraculously saved from death after he was pulled out of a shallow grave where he was buried by his 25-year-old South African mother. The child had been in the grave for three days and was discovered after factory staff heard a cry and decided to investigate.

Crime: 75-year-old retired soldier nabbed for armed robbery in Edo State


The Edo state police command has arrested a 75-year-old retired soldier for masterminding armed robbery operations in the state. The ex- soldier identified as, Jubrin Ugiagbe, was arrested alongside two other suspects.

News: 23-year-old man commits suicide in Adamawa state after beating his mother


A 23-year-old man has committed suicide in Yola, Adamawa state after having a fight with his mother in which he dislocated her left wrist. Musa Fidelis had been in a foul mood that day according to family members and as the argument broke out between him and his mother, he got physical.

News: One month after becoming a father, Gunmen killed a NSCDC officer


Unknown gunmen recently killed an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ekiti State, Sunday Afolabi, just a month after he welcomed his first child.

Two teenage boys met their untimely death on Easter eve when they drowned in a hotel swimming pool in Benin, Edo state.

Crime: Prophet arrested in Lagos for stealing $500

50-year-old Moses Edwin, a prophet in one of the orthodox churches in Lagos was last Friday arrested by men of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command for stealing $500 belonging to a customer, while he was trying to convert $5,000 into Naira.

Edwin, a bureau de-change operator was arrested beside Airport Hotel, Ikeja, along with another member three days after stealing $500 from $5,000 bills presented to them by one Adebayo Lookman for conversion into naira.

A week ago, the whistle blowing policy of the Federal Government led the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to storm a residential building in the 7th Floor of a four - bedroom apartment at Osborne Towers located at 16, Osborne road Ikoyi, Lagos, where a find of foreign currencies and Naira notes to the tune of $43.4m, £27,800 and N23.2m was uncovered.


The operation followed a whistle blower's confidential alert regarding suspicious movement of bags in and out of a particular apartment in the building. Monies were found in two of the four bedroom apartment.

Police say a California man identified as Kori Ali Muhammad (born Kori McDonald) shot and killed three white victims in Fresno, California, for no other reason but for their skin color. Muhammad picked the white men at random in three different locations Tuesday in Fresno, California, and fired 16 shots into them.
Around 10:45 a.m. local time, police officers with the Fresno Police Department responded to a scene after two gunshots were detected through ShotSpotter, a gunfire locator, according to Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
