Minister of Defence, Brig-Gen Mansur Ali says rescuing the remaining 195 Chibok school girls held captive by Boko Haram members would take years. Recall that the sect members on April 14th 2014, kidnapped 276 students from the Government Girls College Chibok in Borno state.
Some of them have been rescued while others fled the sect's camp in Sambisa forest. According to the Minister of Defence, the rescue of the remaining 195 girls might take years.
Mansur who said this in a recent interview with Voice Of America VOA Hausa Service, stated that as it took the US military years to find Osama Bin Laden even after the invasion of Afghanistan, it might also take the Nigerian military some years before all the remaining school girls can be rescued.
He however added that the Nigerian military is committed to finding the girls is still combing Boko Haram hideouts in the Sambisa Forest.
“It took the U.S. up to seven, eight, up to 10 years before they could get to bin Laden. We are continuing our campaign in the Sambisa Forest in all its nooks and corners”he said
