Head of the electrical engineering unit of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Abdulrahman Musa has been found dead in a Lagos canal.

Oyo: How gunmen attacked Abolongo correctional facility in Oyo and set prisoners free

 


Armed men have attacked one of the facilities of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) in Oyo State. Abolongo correctional facility was attacked by the gunmen at about 10pm on Friday, October 22. It was gathered that the gunmen set all the prisoners at the facility free during the attack.

Sokoto State: Angry Youths sets ablazed one female and two male bandits

Hit-and-run driver kills popular pharmacist in Edo


A top pharmacist identified as Austin Umweni, has been killed by a hit-and-run driver in Benin City, Edo state while jogging. 

It was gathered that Umweni, the proprietor of Austin Pharmacy, was jogging in the early hours of Wednesday, May 5, along Airport Road when the driver said to be driving a Mercedes Benz car hit him. He died on the spot. 

The remains of the top pharmacist have been deposited at a morgue in the state capital.

My Husband Was A Great Warrior Who Feared Nothing - Mrs. Joe Okie-Odumakin


Joe Okei-Odumakin, a human rights campaigner, on Saturday confirmed the passing of her husband, Yinka Odumakin, after a brief illness.

Mrs Okei-Odumakin, also the President of Women Arise, made the announcement in a statement in Lagos.

She said “The sad event happened on Saturday morning at the intensive care unit of LASUTH where he was being managed for respiratory issues due to complications from COVID-19 which he had recovered from about a week ago.

“I appreciate the outpouring of grief and sympathy from home and abroad as I mourn my irreplaceable soulmate.”

She urged all to remain steadfast in the cause of the masses to which her husband dedicated his life.

She said that burial arrangements would be made public in due course.

Meanwhile, a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has mourned the passage of the late activist, describing him as warrior who stood for truth till he died.

In a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Fani-Kayode said, “I am deeply saddened that we have lost Comrade Yinka Odumakin, one of our brightest and best.

“He was a great warrior who feared nothing and who stood for truth and justice right to the end.

“The South West and indeed Nigeria has lost one of its greatest sons and brightest stars.

“May the Lord forgive him of all his sins, May He honor him with a place in Heaven and May his great and mighty soul rest in peace. Adieu great warrior, until we meet again.

“Those of us who had the honor of being called your brother and who stood by you shoulder to shoulder through the most trying times for our people and the most bitter battles for the emancipation of our nation shall miss you dearly.

Before the woman came out, a policeman with a rifle had shot three times in the air threatening the lady to leave the Police Station premises and not long afterwards the lady was seen coming out of the station half naked. She was also cursing the policeman as she was leaving the gate and crossing the road.

Man who allegedly shot co-tenant in Ogun arrested by Police

A 35 year old man, Obinna Kalu, was on March 16 arrested by men of Ogun state police command for shooting his co-tenant Adijat Balogun with a gun at her right rib.

Kalu's arrest followed a report made at Sabo/Ilupeju divisional headquarters by one Olayiwola Kareem, who reported that while the victim was sleeping in her room at about 12 noon on the 14th of March 2021, Obinna Kalu a co-tenant who has always been at loggerhead with the victim sneaked into her room and shot her on the right rib.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, reads in part 

''Upon the report, the DPO Sabo/Ilupeju division SP Mustapha Opawoye quickly led his men to the scene where the victim was quickly rescued to state hospital Ijaye and was later referred to Federal Medical Center Abeokuta for medical attention.

Having carried out the dastardly act, the suspect quickly went into his apartment, packed all his belongings, and ran away. A massive manhunt was there and then launched for him, and with the cooperation of members of the public, he was eventually arrested on the 16th of March 2021.

On interrogation, the suspect initially denied being the person that shot the victim, but when he was asked for the rationale behind his sudden action of evacuating his belongings and running away from the house, he was unable to argue further.

The victim is currently recuperating at Federal Medical Center Abeokuta. ''

Oyeyemi added that the state commissioner of police CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the transfer of the case to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.

Police patrol team attack leaves one policeman dead and another in critical condition

One police officer has been killed and another one lying critically ill in the hospital after unknown gunmen attacked a Police patrol team at Ukacha junction Neni, Anaocha LGA in Anambra state today March 18.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, says the hoodlums numbering over twenty with three Sienna buses and motorcycles engaged the police in a gun-duel which lasted for over 30mins before reinforcements from the State headquarters forcing the hoodlums to escape.

Tochukwu said two police operatives sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention where one was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

He said the state Commissioner of police, CP MB Kuryas, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment. He said an investigation is ongoing and effort is being intensified in order to unravel perpetrators of the heinous act and bring them to book.

No survivors as Military aircraft reportedly crashes in Abuja (Video)


The aircraft, King Air 350 en-route to Minna crashed at Bassa Airport Village on Sunday morning, February 21, after reporting engine failure.

7-year old girl brutaly raped by a 68-year old man in Anambra State
