The Nigeria Police Force(NPF) is experiencing some sort of anxiety because of the possible departure of its inspector general, Adamu Muhammed, who his tenure is ending on Monday, February 1, 2021.
Nobody knows what might happen, maybe the president is going to extend his tenure, or he will bow out today, after 35 years of a meritorious service.
The inspector of police, who is the 20th IGP in the country has been appointed since
the inception. He was appointed by president Muhammadu Buhari, after the tenure of former inspector of police ibrahim Idris ended. The NPF is really looking forward to knowing the president decision today, if he decides not to extend his tenure, then it has to be one of the most senior in rank in the police force.
Earlier, President Muhammadu Buhari extended the tenure of the controller- general of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and even the commandant general, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Muhammadu Gana. The same trend can occur in the case of the inspector of police.
Meanwhile, in another report gathered, four senior officers have been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force over various forms of misconduct. According to the report, Legit.ng reports.
A statement by the head of press and public relations of the police service commission, Ikechukwu Ani, who confirmed this report.
