Dino Melaye, who was arrested on recently after leading a group of protesters to the building of the Aviation Ministry, was released this evening. Melaye, a prominent anti-corruption leader, and his group made their way to the ministry's offices to call for Stella Oduah to step-down as head of the aviation ministry after it has been reported that two armoured BMW 7-Series vehicles worth N255 million were purchased for her by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.
The protest turned violent when pro-Oduah supporters attacked the group which Melaye was leading. The police were called and attempted to clear the altercation and arrested the anti-Oduah supporters for public disturbance. Melaye was taken into custody of his refused to move out of the police vehicles way, in which his fellow protesters were being transported in.
Melaye, who is a former member of the House of Representatives was quoted saying,"I must confess that the CP in FCT was very civil and nice."
