The Ekimogun Festival is an annual event where all sons and daughters of Ondo Kingdom at home and in Diaspora come together to showcase their culture and raise funds for the development of their community.
To add glamour and give room for other tribes and regions to experience the Ekimogun festival as well, O2 Entertainment started the MISS EKIMOGUN Beauty Pageant which occurs during the Ekimogun Festival week, the pageant has over the years evolved to become the official opening activity of the festival. The Pageant is open to all Tertiary Institution female students between the ages of 18 and 26.
Miss Ekimogun was literarily founded as a result of the need to promote education and to seek global advancement for the Nigerian Woman. The maiden edition which started in 2009 with just 106 entrants has continued to enjoy a steady growth in popularity; the year 2012 had 3,725 entrants. Entries have come from various higher institutions which include: UNILAG, OAU, UNAD, ACE, ABU, OWO-POLY, ADO-POLY, IBADAN-POLY, BAYERO UNI, UI, FUTA, AAU AKUNGBA, DELSU, UNIBEN, UNILORIN and private schools such as IGBINEDION UNIVERSITY, BABCOCK UNIVERSITY, LEADCITY UNIVERSITY and MADONNA UNIVERSITY.
Miss Ekimogun has a goal to take community cultures and traditions to a level of competing with other cultural events that are popularly known around the world, amongst of which is Nottingham carnival where there are no limits to interested participants.
O2 ENTERTAINMENT has over the years built a network of clients in the media sector and will generously use this avenue to generate interest and create awareness for the MISS EKIMOGUN Beauty Pageant 2013, while specifically targeting key markets. Media access will also be provided to former beauty queens, celebrities and sponsor's representatives for interviews, photo sessions and expert commentary.
