[OPEN LETTER] OPC NOT INVOLVED IN EJIGBO ASSAULT VICTIMS

By Oduwaiye Fela

Our attention has been drawn to the insinuations in some quarters linking the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) with the dastardly acts meted to two women by some men in the Ejigbo area of Lagos. Like every other Nigerian, we are deeply saddened by the type of treatment meted out to the women, which of course, first came to our attention after it was circulated on some social media networks.

And soon after stories started flying linking our members to the wicked act, the leaders of our organization immediately put together a body to investigate the matter and report back to the House on its findings. Our investigations in the area have, however, indicated that no member of our organization was linked to any such incident. As a matter of fact, the investigations also revealed that nothing of such took place in any of the zones under our command.

While our hearts go out to the women, I would like to put it on record here that the OPC under the command of Otunba Gani Adams condemn acts like the one meted out to the women, and view it as not only barbaric, but also inhuman and should be condemned by everybody.

Let me reiterate it here once again that our organization has nothing to do with the ugly incident. We in the OPC condemn the act in its entirety as wicked, brutish and inhuman.

It is therefore wicked on the part of anybody to link the OPC with wicked assault on the two women. We are compelled to make this statement because our silence may be regarded in some quarters that our organization was indeed responsible for the wicked act.
Thank you.

Akeem Ologunro,
Publicity Secretary,
Oodua People’s Congress

From the Publisher's desk:
We all know how OPC handles criminals brutally when carrying out investigation, should we now say this dastardly acts meted on these two women should not be linked to either Gani Adams or Frederick Fasheun's fraction? The truth will soon be told. Fellow citizens, please have your say...
